It all happened on Friday 30th of August
A bus came speeding back down
for us. Mrs Milne’s commanded, “ If you
are in Mr Dunn’s car, get on the bus.” Another car group got on the bus.
“We are here,” remarked Kai. We got out of the bus and put our gear in a
hut. Kea, Kai and I made some snow balls and sent them flying at people.
Now we put on our lift pass.
We were at the wrong hut so we went to the right hut. Then a man in a blue snowsuit
came, told us about the boundaries, where to go and where not to go.
We went from the cold snow in
to a warm room, where we got our boots. We were instructed to put one on. After getting our skis we went outside. Our instructor
smiled at us. “ My name is Scott.” Then we put our skis on. Oakley was the
master at sliding back when he was not moving. He would flap his arms around and fall over. We
had lots of excitement.
After I had done my first go
racing down the learners slope, Mrs Milne’s suggested we go and have lunch. Oh
yeah, I had not had lunch yet. I quickly
wolfed my lunch down. I put my goggles on, everything looked yellow, until it settled
down again.
I was already heading up the slope.
Up at the top I meat Oakley. We saw Mr Dun lying on the slope waiting for Oakley
to fall over halfway down the slope. But he was out of luck, as Oakley made it to
the bottom without falling over. I went down too.
When I reached the bottom, I shot
over a small mound of well-compacted snow, doing a small jump. I landed on the
other side. I let myself slide back into the small ditch, made out of a lot of
snow.
I looked around me. Seth was
building a snowman on the side. Everyone was giving it their best shot and
having a lot of fun. Even other people, from very young people to old people.
